Auswahlkriterien, um in den Global Titans 50 aufgenommen zu werden, sind Marktkapitalisierung, Umsatz und Nettogewinn der Aktien, die im Dow Jones World Index gelistet sind. Eingeführt wurde der Global Titans 50 im Jahr 1999 mit dem Ziel die weltweit größten Bluechips in einem Index zusammenzufassen.
